How to paint a sunset with oil paints
If you want to paint a good sunset, you must determine the position of the horizon line in the picture; the position of the horizon line will determine from where the sunset is seen.

E.g., placing the horizontal line lower in the painting will make it feel like it is being viewed from a high place. If the horizontal line is high, it indicates that it is being observed closer to the ground.

Changes in sky color
Be aware that when looking at the sky, although it appears to be one color, there are actually many subtle tonal variations throughout the palette.

To achieve these subtle variations, color combinations of like colors can be used to express them;
Pay attention to the perspective of the screen
Drawing a sunset is an exercise in perspective, paying close attention to the size and position of the different elements in the drawing.

For example, clouds that are far away in the painting will get smaller and lower, while clouds that are closer will get bigger and higher.
Keep the color clean
If the sky is too bright, the intensity of the sun is diminished. To make the sun stand out more, replace the sun color with a bright color and the surrounding sky with a darker color.

Complementary colors tend to get dirty when mixing colors, and it is recommended that special care needs to be taken when mixing blues and oranges, as they quickly turn brown.

Variation of the virtual reality of the edge of the cloud
Be sure that the clouds in the sunset painting of the picture have variations in reality and are not too uniform.
Clouds diffuse light and are the reason why sunsets have such beauty, warmth and different colors.
This means that the color of the clouds is not just white, but in most cases is affected by the ambient light around them.

Don’t over-carve the foreground
The main focus is the setting sun and the sky around it. For this reason, the foreground should be simplified so that it does not compete with the sunset for focus.

Think Like an Impressionist
If you look closely at sunsets, you will notice that they have many characteristics of the Impressionist style.
For example, Impressionists created scenes by paying close attention to the effects of light, but not necessarily recording all the little details.
